Three primary colors and three non-primary colors, and horizontal and vertical lines only. These were the restrictions that Piet Mondrian placed on himself. Mickey seems to be looking through the painting, as it were, which creates a sense of distance. Mondrian described it as:
“Art should be above reality, otherwise it would have no value to humans.”
For me, however, your reality only arises in your own perception, and it is never the same as mine.
And that is what makes people unique. The thick paint lines add extra feel and depth to the work, making it feel warmer than the pure color area.
